lisse qu’un miroir ! Si seulement
ils pouvaient me réchauffer un
peu ! Avant même d’avoir pris les
jumelles je distingue différentes es-
pèces de canard, de cigogne, de
héron et de mouette. De plus en plus
d’oiseaux arrivent – les cigognes
en tête. Le plan d’eau commence à
s’animer.
trise encore mieux cet art. Je suis au
paradis...!
exceptionnelle. Il porte sa plus belle
robe. Elle est magnifique. Quelques
than a cattle egret but looks kind of plump.
It’s time for a photo. The heron is wearing
his breeding plumage, with long white
neck feathers lying like strands of hair over
his shoulders. Only in the pairing season
the rare herons are this beautiful.
Some small snow-white little egrets, which
because of a fashion aberration – their
white feathers were used to create fashion
accessories – have become very rare,
start a fight. They are croaking and at-
tacking each other, flying up and down,
spreading their wings. Their displaying is
reflected in the water. This time I have to
take some more photos. When one of the
egrets captures a large crayfish, principal
food in these waters, I get so excited that
I almost lose my camera.
Then a purple heron, well camouflaged
in the reeds, catches my eyes. It is fluf-
fing its feathers up, his plumage shining in
shades of grey and purple. After cleaning
its feathers thoroughly, of course not with-
out me taking photos, it appears very
slender again and its long neck stands
horizontally above the water like a spear.
Suddenly, the dagger-like bill enters the
water. It reappears with a fish in it, which
is thrown a couple of times into the air
before it enters the esophagus in the desi-
red position.
