édifices fut construite à l’instiga-
tion de la vigoureuse bourgeoi-
sie locale de l’époque. Il convient de
souligner la grande profusion d’édifices
Art nouveau comme la maison Cusí, la
maison Puig-Soler ou la maison Salleras,
mais aussi de style néoclassique, dont no-
tamment la maison Bonaterra, la maison
du Café Progrès et la maison Polideseia.
Au niveau de l’architecture sacrée,
l’église Sant Pere mérite une attention
particulière. Édifiée à l’origine en style
roman, cette paroisse fut reconstruite au
cours du XIVe siècle, conformément aux
canons gothiques. Certains éléments
furent ajoutés ultérieurement comme le
transept et l’abside qui datent du XVIIIe
siècle.
Parmi les autres édifices dignes d’inté-
rêt, nous pouvons citer la chapelle Sant
Sebastià, d’origine médiévale et qui fut
remaniée au début du XVIIe s., ainsi que
le couvent des Capucins (Caputxins) qui
date du XVIIIe siècle.
In terms of religious architecture, the
church of Sant Pere deserves spe-
cial attention. Originally build in Roman-
esque style, the parish church was rebuilt
in the 14th century under Gothic rules.
Later other elements were added, such
as the transept and the apse, both from
te 18th century.
Other interesting buildings are the chapel
of Sant Sebastià, of medieval origin and
remodelled at the beginning of the 17th
C. and the Convent of Els Caputxins, a
complex built in the 18th century.
The Dalí Theatre-Museum
Without doubt, however, one of the his-
torical milestones that has left the greatest
mark on the character of the town was the
birth of Salvador Dalí. The Dalí Theatre-
Museum, situated in the old municipal the-
atre, has become one of the main cultural
places to see in the city. Designed by the
artist himself, it holds an important exhibi-
tion, which, through numerous works, al-
lows you to take a trip through the career
