makeup around the eyes. They seem
to match. Soon the female will build a nest
and lay eggs.
A hoopoe, flying by completely uninterested
in all of his colleagues, makes me smile. He
looks a bit clumsy, his wing movements are
jerky, something that does not quite match
the otherwise elegant appearance of the
light brown bird with white marks, which
probably is now feeding its young in a tree
hole.
A black-winged stilt approaches my side
of the water. Their plumage is «only» black
and white - the male do not only have black
wings but also black heads -, but they are
beautiful, graceful birds. The legs are so
long, any model would be thrilled. The re-
flection in the water makes them even look
longer.
A glance at the clock tells me that I have
already spent three hours here. How fast the
time has gone by and how much fun I had!
Photographing in nature, especially birds,
is one of my great passions.

ressemblent à des mèches tom-
bant sur les épaules. On dirait qu’il
vient de se faire coiffer. Ce n’est que
pendant la saison des amours que ce
héron très rare arbore ces attributs. J’ai
beaucoup de chance !
Chez les petites aigrettes garzette on
se dispute. Ces oiseaux sont devenus
très rares en raison d’une mode aber-
rante : pendant des années on leur
arrachait les plumes de parade afin
de les utiliser pour la fabrication d’ac-
cessoires vendus dans des boutiques
huppées. Elles poussent des cris et s’at-
taquent. Régulièrement il y en a une
qui s’envole, les ailes déployées au
maximum. C’est une attitude faite pour
impressionner. A chaque fois qu’un
mâle réagit ainsi, d’autres l’imitent.
Tout cela se reflète dans l’eau. Cette
fois-ci il faudra un peu plus de prises
de vue. Et lorsqu’un de ces oiseaux
attrape une écrevisse, la principale
nourriture qu’offre cet étang, je suis
tellement contente que j’en laisse
presque tomber la caméra.
