Das Landschaftsbild der Costa Brava gleicht einem unvollendeten Ölge- mälde, auf dem die Farbe noch lange nicht getrocknet ist, ähnlich einem Kunstwerk, das gerade durch seine Unvollkommenheit besticht - eine wilde, romantische Szenerie in kontinuierlichem Wandel. Nicht ganz unbeteiligt an dieser Komposition ist der Tramuntana - der kalte trockene Nordwind - beziehungsweise die Tramuntana, denn der Terminus ist weiblich. Wie eine eigenwillige und unberechenbare Malerin, trägt sie die Landschafts- farben davon, bis sie ineinander verschwimmen und vorhandene Grenzen nach und nach verwischen. Mit rasanter Geschwindigkeit braust sie durch das Land, stürmt durch die Fenster in die Gedanken der Menschen, wirbelt oft nicht nur Blätter oder Staub auf, sondern stellt auch so manches auf den Kopf. Die Tramuntana ist für die Menschen im Alt Emporda eine alte, launische Bekannte. Mal rauscht sie rau und intensiv, mal säuselt sie schon

Resembling an unfinished oil painting whose colors have not completely dried yet, the landscape along the Costa Brava is similar to an artwork that convinces by its imperfection - a wild, romantic scenery in constant change. Certainly, the tramontana - a cold, dry northerly wind typical around the Western Mediterranean Sea - plays its part in this composi- tion. Like a headstrong and capricious, unpredictable painter, it carries away the colors of the landscape until they merge and distort existing boundaries. At breakneck speed it rushes over the lands, penetrates people’s minds via their windows and turns the landscape upside down. Sometimes harsh and intense, sometimes gently whispering, the tramon- tana is a well-known phenomenon among the inhabitants of Old Emporda. An interplay of light and darkness arises and makes it an impressionistic spectacle full of expression. It is told that the northerly wind makes crea-
