Madrid is set to host the International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, PHotoEspaña.
Over half a million people gather every year for this event which transforms Madrid in the capital of photography during almost two months. An unmissable occasion to discover the latest innovations and the photographic projects, videos and art installations by the most outstanding national and international artists.
The 22nd edition of PHotoESPAÑA will take place from June 5 to September 1, 2019. PHotoESPAÑA began 21 years ago with the vocation of increasing the visibility of photography. In the 2019 edi- tion, the festival program has developed around three core themes that highlight the importance of collections, contemporary Spanish photography, and emerging photography.PHotoESPAÑA 2019 will have Susan Bright as its Guest Curator, with a proposal that includes five exhibitions. Once again this year collections will be present with prominent collections such as the Archivo Lafuente, Colecció Per Amor a l´Art and the Colección ENAIRE, in addition to the proposals that form part of the Festival Off. The future of photography will be pre- sent in four collective proposals –Discoveries, Transeurope, Futures and the exhibition of the students of Master PHotoESPAÑA– with emerging photographers with whom either we have worked in 2018 or we will work in this edition, within the professional programmes of the festival. Also creating exhibitions within the collaboration chan- nels of the projects co-financed by the Creative Europe program of the European Union.Along with its exhibition side, the festival will also feature professional programs and public activities, which will include workshops, outdoor screenings and contests, among others.

El Festival Internacional de Fotografía y Artes Visuales, PHotoEspaña, se celebra en Madrid.
Más de medio millón de personas acuden a esta cita anual que con- vierte a Madrid, durante casi dos meses, en la capital mundial de la fotografía. Una ocasión ineludible para conocer las últimas no- vedades y los proyectos fotográficos, vídeos e instalaciones de los creadores nacionales e internacionales más destacados.
La XXII edición de PHotoESPAÑA se celebrará entre el 5 de junio y el 1 de septiembre de 2019. De nuevo el festival apostará por un programa con más de una temática, y con la presencia de autores nacionales e internacionales, tanto consagrados como emergentes y otros que se encuentran en mitad de su carrera.
PHotoESPAÑA 2019 contará con Susan Bright como comisaria invi- tada, con una propuesta que incluye cinco exposiciones. Además la presente edición del festival ofrecerá una mirada sobre el coleccio- nismo en España, con muestras que reúnen los fondos de importantes colecciones públicas y privadas. Junto con estas grandes colecciones, de nuevo, las propuestas de las galerías de Madrid, reunidas en el Festival OFF, ofrecerán una nueva perspectiva sobre el coleccionismo. El festival contará también con grandes maestros de la fotografía internacional y española. Además, el futuro de la fotografía estará presente en cuatro propuestas colectivas – Descubrimientos, Transeu- rope, Futures y la muestra de los alumnos del Máster PHotoESPAÑA – con fotógrafos emergentes, con los que o bien se ha trabajado en 2018 o se trabajará en esta edición, dentro de los programas pro- fesionales del Festival. Creando además exposiciones dentro de los canales de colaboración de los proyectos cofinanciados por el pro- grama Europa Creativa de la Unión Europea.
Junto con su vertiente expositiva el festival contará también con pro- gramas profesionales y actividades para públicos entre las que se incluirán talleres, proyecciones al aire libre y concursos, entre otras.
