gehalten und auf einem Hügel gelegen ist es de nitiv die majestätischste Jugendherberge in der ich jemals war. Zugegeben, um das Hostel (zu Fuß) zu erreichen, braucht man ein wenig Durchhaltevermögen und Kon- dition - die Aussicht über Barcelona lässt mich den Anstieg aber sofort wieder vergessen!
Abseits der Rambla im Vintage-Himmel
Schon klar, die berühmte Rambla (und eigentlich Barcelona allgemein) ist ein wahres Shoppingparadies. Die berühmten Modeketten ndet man an jeder Ecke. Aber ist doch auf Dauer langweilig, oder? Viel mehr Persön- lichkeit und Geschichte steckt in Vintage- und Secondhand- Läden - und die gibt es in Barcelona, ganz zu meiner Freude, en masse! Wer hätte gedacht, dass nur ein paar Minuten abseits der Rambla auf der Carrer dels Tallers eine ganz andere (Shopping-)Welt lauert? Voller Euphorie durchkämme ich in den nächsten paar Stunden jeden Zentimeter des Vintage-Himmels. Von schicken 50er Jahre Kleidern bis hin zu alten Jeans- jacken und Hemden in den verrücktesten Mustern und Farben (70er olé!) - es gibt nichts, was man hier nicht nden kann. Die Carrer dels Tallers? Mein persönliches Paradies.
Entdeckungsreise fernab der Sagrada Familia
Zweifellos Gaudís großes Meisterwerk muss man einmal im Leben gesehen haben. Doch auch abseits der Sagrada Familia gibt es einiges zu ent- decken. Beispielsweise das beeindruckende Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau im berühmten katalanischen Jugendstil. Das alte Krankenhaus wurde zwar schon lange von einem Neubau abgelöst - das historische Hospital hat für Besucher aber immer noch seine Türen geöffnet. Ein Teil der alten Gebäude wird heutzutage übrigens von der Medizin Uni Bar- celonas genützt - da kann man schon neidisch werden!
Sonntag in Barcelona: vom Labyrinth zum Strand
Wer, so wie ich, das Buch „Das Parfum“ regelrecht verschlungen und die anschließende Ver lmung gebannt mitverfolgt hat, der muss unbedingt in den Parc del Laberint d’Horta. Denn die älteste erhaltene Parkanlage Bar- celonas ist einer der schönsten Drehorte des ganzen Films. Das Herzstück? Der geheimnisvolle Irrgarten...
Und weil es Sonntag ist - bekanntlich der Tag der Ruhe - gönne ich mir einen entspannten Nachmittag am Strand von Barcelona. Während ich die Zehen im Sand vergrabe und die kreisenden Möwen beobachte, mache ich mir in Gedanken schon einen Plan für’s nächste Mal in der katalanischen Hauptstadt...

should de nitely check out „Mare de Déu de Montserrat“. The youth hostel that was built in a Moorish architectural style offers an extraordinary view of Barcelona because of its location on top of a hill. Although I have to admit that reaching the hosel (by foot) leaves you a little bit out of breath, the view makes it worth every step!
In vintage-heaven
Sure, the famous Rambla (and Barcelona in general) are a true shopping paradise. The most popular fashion chains can be found on every corner. But isn’t that a bit boring in the long run? Vintage and second hand stores on the other hand are full of history and personality! Who would have thought that only a couple of minutes away from the Rambla on the Carrer dels Tal- lers, a completely different shopping world is waiting for me? More than excited I rummage through every corner of every store for the next couple of hours. From beautiful 50ies dresses to old denim jackets and shirts with the craziest patterns and colours (long live the 70ies!)- there’s nothing you can’t nd here! The Carrer dels Tallers? Heaven on earth.
Exploring off the beaten tracks
Without a doubt, Gaudís grand masterpiece has to be seen once in a life time. But also off the Sagrada Familia there are dozens of things to discover. For example the impressive Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau that was built in the famous Catalan modernism style. Although the former hospital has long been replaced by a new building, the historic site still has its doors open for visitors. Part of the old building is nowadays used by the medicine faculty of the University of Barcelona - de nitely not a bad spot to study!
From the labyrinth to the beach
Anyone who devoured the book „Perfume: The Story of a Murderer“ and loved the lm adaption as much as I did, de nitely has to visit „Parc del Laberint d’Horta“. After all, Barcelonas oldest park is one of the movie’s most beautiful locations. The heart of the beautiful park? Its mysterious labyrinth... And because its Sunday, the day of rest, I treat myself to a relaxing after- noon at the beach. While I bury my toes in the sand and watch the seagulls circle above my head, I’m already planning my next trip to the Catalan capital I fell in love with...

condition et avoir une bonne dose de persévérance - mais la vue magni- que sur Barcelone me fait oublier la montée tout de suite !
