Wer Barcelona hört, dem schießen sofort einige Bilder in den Kopf: die berühmte Sagrada Familia, die Rambla, der Plaça Catalunya... doch Bar- celona geht auch anders. Mit dieser Einstellung wollte ich die katalanische Studentenstadt mal abseits des Touristengetümmels und der bekanntesten Sehenswürdigkeiten erkunden.
The only way is up - Barcelonas Szeneviertel
Das junge und hippe In-Viertel Gràcia liegt nördlich des Stadtzentrums abseits der Touristenpfade. Hält man sich vorher im etwas hektischeren Altstadtteil auf, bemerkt man hier sofort die veränderte Atmosphäre. Wer hier nach makelloser Architektur und blitzblank polierten Straßen Ausschau hält, ist an der falschen Adresse. Gràcia ist herrlich vielseitig, lebhaft, aber gleichzeitig entspannt und vor allem authentisch.
Besonders empfehlenswert - vor allem abends - sind der lebendige Plaça de la Virreina und der nahe gelegene Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia. Ganz nach dem Motte „good food, good mood“ lassen wir hier den Abend - katalanisch - mit Patatas Bravas und Cerveza ausklingen.
Wer außerdem keine Lust auf langweilige 08/15 Hotels hat, der ist im Mare de Déu de Montserrat bestens aufgehoben. Im maurischen Stil

The famous Sagrada Familia, the Rambla, the Plaça Catalunya... all of these popular sights immediately come to mind when thinking of Barce- lona... But Catalonia’s capital has so much more to offer! With that in mind, I payed a visit to the Catalan student city off the beaten tracks and far away from the most popular sights.

The young and hip district Gràcia is located in the north of the city centre, far away from the crowds of tourists that Barcelona has to deal with. This part of town is nothing like the somewhat hectic historic centre. Walking through the streets of Gràcia, you immediately feel the changed atmos- phere. No awless architecture, no brightly polished streets but variety, liveliness and above all authenticity.
Especially in the evening, the district’s squares like the Plaça de la Virreina and the nearby Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia are full of life.
„Good food, good mood“ is our motto for the evening. The Patatas Bra- vas are hot, our Cervezas are cold... The perfect ending to our rst day in Barcelona!
