sea and the view between the rust-
colored steel walls falls directly into

from Franco’s advancing troops.
Among them was the Jewish phi-
losopher and writer Walter Benja-
min. His suicide saved many lives
of other refugees. Dani Karavan
designed in homage to Walter
Benjamin in Portbou the memo-
rial «Passages». This large lands-
ter Benjamin. La sculpture se

Un long escalier en métal rouillé
longe la falaise jusqu’à la mer. Le
