überall das Feuerwerk. Wie an Sil-
vester in Nordeuropa, feuert man
Knaller und Raketen ab.
Der berühmte Feuerzauber in Ali-
cante geht auf einen uralten Brauch
zurück: Zur Sommersonnenwende
wurden unbrauchbare Gegenstän-
de auf großen Scheiterhaufen ver-
brannt. Das war der Ursprung des
farbenfrohen und feurigen Treibens,
das sich um den Feiertag Johan-
nes des Täufers herum entwickelte
und heute Touristen aus aller Welt
anzieht.
Hier an der Costa Brava ist der
Hafen von Roses ein guter Platz,
