Pelacalç est un p etit hameau
qui fait partie de la commune
de Ventalló. Quelques fermes et une cha-
pelle transformée en lieu d’habitation en-
tourent la petite place du village, le tout
au milieu de champs et de vergés, à seu-
lement quelques kilomètres de la belle
plage de Sant Martí. Les maisons ont été
construites avec les pierres des ruines
du Castillo Pelacalç datant du 12ème
siècle, qui fut détruit lors des guerres au
cours du 15ème siècle. Du matériau de
construction dont ont volontiers profité
les paysans de l’époque !
C’est exactement ce qui s’est passé pour
la Boutique Hotel Can Picó : elle a été
construite au 16ème siècle avec ces
mêmes pierres historiques. Récemment
elle a été transformée en hôtel. La fenêtre
Pelacalç is a tiny settlement which
belongs to the municipality of
Ventalló. Surrounded by fields and or-
chards, a few kilometres from the beauti-
ful Mediterranean beach in Sant Martí,
the few farmhouses and a chapel used as
a residential home gather around the de-
serted village square. The ancient stone
houses were built with stones that once
belonged to the old castle ruins. The Cas-
tillo Pelacalç which originated in the 12th
century fell victim to the war in the 15th
century and offered the farmers favour-
able building material.
The now Boutique Hotel Masia Can Picó
was remodelled in the 16th century, built
from the historic stones. The Gothic win-
dow above the entrance was an impor-
tant part of the old castle ruins and is now
a protected monument.
When the property last changed hands
in autumn 2012, a refurbishment and
change of use to the Boutique Hotel was
commissioned. In no time, the historic and
charming building badly in need of a
renovation was brought back to life.

rique. Au moment du dernier change-
ment de propriétaire à l’automne 2012,
l’ensemble a été totalement rénové et la
modification en hôtel a été officialisée.
Une nouvelle vie attend à présent cette
bastide pleine de charme.
