Festival Castell de Peralada: Jessie J.
Jessie J., with her real name Jessica Ellen Cornish, is celebrated worldwide for her hits like “Price Tag”, “Who you are”, or “Bang Bang” (featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj). The 31-year-old pop singer from Great Britain became famous with her 2011 debut album “Who you are”, which combines the Motown soul and the 90s hip-hop. Also from the four other albums and 18 singles of her discography, many songs were celebrated in the top ten of the international charts.
The Peralada Castle, surrounded by ancient walls, is located in the Catalan province of Girona, in the municipality of Peralada, famous for its good wine and champagne, which offers its visitors an elegant ambi- ence. The former castle of the Counts of Peralada gives its name to this historic complex. The ensemble also includes a past Carmelite monastery with a medieval church, a beautiful 19th century landscape park and a modern auditorium for music festivals.
At this year’s Festival of Peralada Castle, Jessie J. had the honor of being one of the only pop acts locally among the otherwise exclusively classi- cal programme items such as the famous opera “La Traviata” or the ballet “El Quijote del Plata”.
After a short round through the enchanted grounds with a glass of cham- pagne and nice chats, the concert took place. All dressed very elegantly, drinking (sparkling) wine and looking at the exhibited car models; the event reminded me of anything but an electro-pop concert.
Jessie J. also seemed surprised by the rows of seats in front of the big stage. She announced right at the beginning that she expected the audi- ence to dance at the concert. The humorous and self-confident star from England gave a high-quality music show from start to finish and achieved 90% standing ovations in the end. Even the old lady, sitting behind us - at the beginning with a tense and confused mine - didn’t sit on her chair anymore at the end of the concert, but smilingly moved her hips to the rhythm of the music.

La cantante de pop bri- tánica de 31 años se hizo famosa con su álbum debut de 2011 “Who you are”, que combina el Soul de Motown y el hip-hop de los años 90 en su ritmo. Incluso la anciana seño- ra que estaba detrás de nosotros -al principio con una tensa y confusa mina- ya no se sentaba en su silla al final del concierto, sino que sonreía y movía sus caderas al ritmo de la música.
