But I can also see other
birds coming out of the fog:
house martins, swallows, herons,
an egret, flamingos. They are all
searching for small fish and crus-
taceans in order to create a small
supply of food for the flight to their
winter quarters.
A great crested grebe is coming
out of the water - not out of the
fog. Finally it is here again! I have
watched the courtship dance with
its female, it was a unique and ex-
quisite spectacle, of course with
the mating as the last step. Next
time I have seen themwas already
with their young.
Two at first glance very similar-look-
ing birds which I had not discov-
ered yet, because they stay very
close to me but not making a peep,
are the avocet and the stilt. The
