La tejeduría hoy
... Pero afortunadamente, no para siempre. En 1993 el matrimonio cata- lán Henri y Françoise Quinta compraron la antigua fábrica y reiniciaron esta producción tradicional. Henri Quinta, que todavía dirige la tejedu- ría, estudió arte en París y se inspira a partir de muestras archivadas para diseñar los nuevos tejidos. Sin embargo,se necesitó coraje, innovación y creatividad para adaptar el diseño de los tejidos a las tendencias actuales y restablecerlo en un mercado textil altamente competitivo. Los productos tienen éxito por su calidad, porque son auténticos, clásicos y coloridos. El estilo se adapta perfectamente a las masías francesas y catalanas, así como a las terrazas de las casas de verano junto al mar.
Los viejos telares siguen moviéndose hoy durante nuestra visita. Los rostros simpáticos de los trabajadores transmiten la alegría de la artesanía y del producto finalizado. Después de visitar la fábrica, también echamos un vistazo extensamente por la tienda y nos llevamos a casa retazos de tela de rayas de colores para fundas de almohadas y bolsas de playa. Weaving today
...But fortunately, not forever. In 1993 the Catalan couple Henri and Françoise Quinta bought the former factory and reopened this traditional production. Henri Quinta, who still runs the weaving mill today, studied art in Paris and draws inspiration from stored samples when designing the fabrics. Nevertheless, it took courage, innovation and creativity to adapt fabric design to today’s trends and to re-establish it in the highly competitive textile market. The products are successful because of the quality, authenticity, classic style and colourfulness. The style fits perfectly in French and Catalan country houses as well as on the terraces of holi- day homes by the sea.
The old weaving looms are still rattling today during our visit. The friendly faces of the workers convey the joy of craftsmanship and product. After visiting the factory, we also browse extensively in the shop and take home colourfully striped fabric remnants for pillowcases and beach bags.
